Meningitis B is the highly aggressive strain of bacterial Meningitis which effects the protective membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Meningitis B is the most common cause of bacterial Meningitis in the UK.
Meningitis B vaccination regime is based on the age of the child:-
2 months - 5 months of age requires 3 doses and a booster at 12 months of age.
6 months - 11 months of age requires 2 doses and a booster at 2 years of age.
12 months - 23 months of age requires 2 doses and a booster 12 - 23 months after the 2nd injection.
2 years - 10 years old requires 2 doses at least 2 months apart.
over 11 years and adults require 2 doses at least 1 month apart.
